Meet Dr. Pedro

Born and raised on Staten Island, Dr. Greg Pedro is what some consider a local hero. Inducted into the Staten Island Hall of Fame, Dr. Pedro returned to “The Rock” to give back to the community that means the world to him. A 1983 graduate from the award-winning St. Peter’s Boy’s Basketball team, Dr. Pedro earned full-scholarships to both Michigan State and Fordham University for his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in General Science. He graduated from Temple University’s School of Dentistry with his DMD and an ADA certification in the highly specialized and deeply competitive field of Prosthodontics. Presciently seeing the future of high-end dentistry, Dr. Pedro was one of the first 30 candidates to extensively train in Computer Guided Dental Implant Surgery under world-renowned prosthodontist, Thomas Ballshi. This insight and experience makes Dr. Pedro the most sought after surgical prosthodontist on Staten Island. Dr. Pedro’s mission is simple: to make world-class implant dentistry more accessible, precise, and stress-free. Whether you're looking for a single implant, a full-mouth transformation, or a second opinion, he and the Robotic Implant Center team are ready to help you take the next step with confidence and clarity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Getting dental implants is a big decision. We're here for you every step of the way.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums to replace missing tooth roots. Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount replacement teeth onto them.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene, and avoiding habits like smoking can significantly extend their lifespan.
Is the implant procedure painful?
The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia, so you shouldn't feel pain during the surgery. Some discomfort may occur during the healing process, which can be managed with prescribed medications.
How long is the recovery period?
Recovery time varies by individual, but most patients can return to normal activities within 1-2 days. Complete healing and osseointegration (when the implant fuses with the jawbone) typically takes 3-6 months.
Are dental implants covered by insurance?
Coverage varies by insurance plan. Some plans cover a portion of the cost, while others may not cover implants at all. We recommend checking with your insurance provider for specific details.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Dental implants provide a permanent solution for missing teeth, improve appearance, restore chewing ability, prevent bone loss, and maintain facial structure. They also don't require adjacent teeth to be modified, unlike bridges.
Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
Most adults in good general health with adequate bone density are candidates for dental implants. Factors like smoking, certain medical conditions, or insufficient bone may affect eligibility, but many of these can be addressed.
How do I care for my dental implants?
Care for implants like natural teeth with regular brushing, flossing, and professional cleanings. Avoid tobacco products and maintain regular dental check-ups to ensure long-term success.
